About the Internet Marketing Database

I have a passion for Internet marketing and the blessing to have worked in the field since 1999.  Throughout the years I keep hearing the same questions over and over and thought it would be helpful to pull the answers together in a single source — The Internet Marketing Database.  Mostly as a personal repository for all the information I like to keep track of but also as a tool for other marketers.

Here you will find descriptions of tried and true Internet marketing tactics as well as information on emerging opportunities.  I will keep the site up to date with examples and case studies.  As a repository for examples that record the success metrics of online campaigns I hope to provide a valuable resource to anyone that is asked (as I constantly am) “What’s the expected measurable results of doing X”.

About Me

For me it all started when I got my first computer – an IBM PC Junior in 1985 (Thanks Dad!).  The thing didn’t do anything.  It was a really cool box that sat there full of possibilities.  My friends and I learned the basics (e.g. Basic) and started to get the green and black screen to do a couple things – draw line, make ping sounds, add numbers together.

Fast forward 10 years and that box now gets connected to all of the other boxes via the “Internet”.  I got the itch to get involved, left my job with a computer peripherals company, and moved to NYC to work at a “Dot Com”.  Since then I’ve learned a lot and had a blast!  My current focus is merging offline and online play to create a new generation of creative activities for kids.  This journey is just beginning and there is a lot more to learn, do, and fun to have.

Along the way I’ve worked in one capacity or another on the following web sites:

FortuneCity.com: A community of over 9 million user generated web pages organized through 25 web sites in 11 languages.  This network of international web sites added up to the 21st largest web property on the internet in 2001.

V3.com: Free domain names such as “i.am/rob” and “go.to/mysite”.

Hotgames.com: A video game review site.

Flynote.com: A music sharing site that took a ton of work to build but was never launched due to legal issues (thanks Napster).

iReg: A subscription based web hosting business.

Ampira.com: A subscription based web hosting business.

Conwaystewart.com: A luxury pen ecommerce site.

MyPhotoAlbum.com: Free digital photo sharing and printing business.

MyBlogSite.com: Free “make your own” blog site.

shop.ca.com: The consumer products ecommerce site for Computer Associates.

PestPatrol.com: The free spyware scanner and software eccomerce site.

AMLVantage.com: my personal hobbie site.

Crayola.com: The web site for Crayola LLC.

Crayola Play Zone featuring Lights, Camera, Color: Crayola’s Kid site featuring the Lights, Camera, Color application that turns digital photos into coloring pages.
